George IV Hotel

This latest addition to the Leisureplex group is situated on the High Street in the centre of Criccieth with magnificent views towards the sea and castle from many bedrooms. All 47 bedrooms are centrally heated and have bath or shower and WC (mostly bath and WC) hair dryer TV intercom and teacoffee making facilities. Extensive public areas include a delightful cocktail bar a large restaurant entertainment room with additional bar and a cosy lounge. A small lift serves first and second floors but not the third floor. The Pearl of Wales on the shores of SnowdoniaCriccieth lies on the south side of the Llyn Peninsula with splendid views over Cardigan Bay. It is home to a medieval castle built by the Welsh in the mid-thirteenth century but later taken by Edward I who incorporated it into his ring of castles designed to maintain Norman control. It was captured by Owain Glyndwr in the uprising of 1404 and the scorch marks from that battle can still be seen! The castle headland divides the town into two with a pebbly beach to the west and a lovely sheltered mainly sandy beach to the east. Nearby is the village of Llanystumdwy which boasts a museum devoted to David Lloyd George the Welsh Wizard whose family once lived in Criccieth. The countryside around Criccieth is breathtaking withfabulous coastal views over Cardigan Bay awesome mountain scenery in Snowdonia and delightful gardens and castles at every turn.IMPORTANT CLIENT INFORMATION.The hotel will contact you 3 days prior to your arrival at the hotel to confirm your booking requirements the balance should be settled at this time. Caerwylan Hotel

The Caerwylan is a friendly privately owned 3 star hotel situated in a unique location on the East shore of Criccieth’s Esplanade. The hotel is a landmark Victorian building which faces south with stunning views over the main beach Cardigan Bay and towards the ruins of Criccieth Castle. The hotel probably enjoys some of the best seaside views in North Wales. The Caerwylan is an ideal base to explore Criccieth the beautiful beaches of the Lleyn Peninsula Snowdonia and the many famous steam railways castles and golf courses of North Wales. With a southern aspect the two beaches are a mixture of sand and pebble with outcrops exposing rock pools at low tide. A gentle stroll takes you to all the town amenities. We bought the hotel at the end of 2007 and since then we have rebuilt all of the Bedrooms to a high standard. We now have 24 comfortable contemporary en-suite bedrooms. Each bedroom has been individually designed and many of the bedrooms have lovely sea views. There is one family bedroom (Room 21). Apart from Room 21 please note it is not our policy to have 2 adults and a babychild in any of our double bedrooms. One adult and a babychild in a double room is fine. From the lift to Room 21 there are approximately 11 stairs. During the winter of 201011 we rebuilt most of the ground floor of the hotel including a new relaxing sea facing lounge a contemporary bar with cask beer and new toilets including a disabled toilet. Our restaurant is open to residents and non residents for dinner seven days a week from 6pm to 9pm. The Head Chef uses good local suppliers as much as possible and the varied menu changes daily. We are also open for Sunday Lunch from noon until 3pm. Morning coffee and afternoon tea is served in the new sea facing lounge and during the summer months in our garden.Facilities at the Hotel include:- Lift to all floors (from the lift to the bedrooms generally 6 stairs); – A new spacious lounge with superb views;- New south facing bar with a wide selection of beers lagers wines and spirits; – South facing garden on the west side of the hotel with deckchairs and sun loungers;- Private garages @ ?1.50 per night (subject to availability). – Guest PC and WIFI on the ground floor (both free);Nick and Fiona look forward to welcoming you to the Caerwylan in 2011.
